running training log

Training for my 2nd half marathon this year. This time I have a running coach. He’s going to help me try to cut some time down on my half that I will be running in September. I am running the Rock & Roll Half marathon in Virginia Beach. ๐Ÿ™‚

Week 1:
6/19: 3 miles
6/20: 2 miles (hills)
6/21: 4 miles hills
6/22: 4 miles
6/25: 6 miles
Total: 19 miles

Week 2:
6/26: 4 miles
6/28: 5 miles
6/30: 30 miles on a bike (that has to count for something!)
Total: 9 running; 30 mile biking

Week 3:
7/2: 1 mile (during my bootcamp)
7/3: 5 miles
7/4: 5 miles (8k race – 48:33!)
7/6: 6 miles
7/8: 7 miles
Total: 24 miles

Week 4:
7/10: 3 miles
7/12: 6 miles
7/14: 3.1 miles (warrior dash)
7/15: 3.5 miles
Total: 15.6

Week 5:
7/16:ย  2.5 miles
7/17: 3 miles
7/18: 2 miles
7/19: 5 miles
7/22: 8 miles
Total: 20.5

week 6:
7/24: 4 miles
7/25: 2 miles
7/26: 5.5 miles

Currently I’m training for my first half marathon this year. May 19th, 2012. I’m going to be following Hal Higdon’s Novice Training plan because it’s the one that got my through the Des Moines Half in October. ๐Ÿ™‚

I skipped week 1 and didn’t follow week 2 so I’m fully jumping into the plan for week 3 because it will put me right on schedule.

Week 2:
3/5 – 4 miles
3/8 – 3 miles
3/9 – 3 miles
3/11 – 4 miles (lots of hills)
Total: 14 miles

Week 3:
3/13: 3.5 miles (probably more like 3.75)
3/15: 3.5 miles
3/18: 5 miles
Total: 12 miles

Week 4:
3/19: 3.5 miles
3/20: 3 miles
3/21: 2 miles
Total: 8.5 miles

Week 5:
3/27: 5 miles
3/29: 4 miles
4/1: 6 miles
Total: 15 miles

Week 6:
4/3: 4 miles
4/4: 2 miles
4/5: 4.5 miles
4/8: 3.1 miles (5k) PR 26:31!!!
Total: 13.6 miles

Week 7:
4/10: 4.5 miles
4/11: 1.5 miles
4/12: 4.5 miles
4/15: 7 miles
Total: 17.7 miles

Week 8:
4/17: 4.5 miles
4/19: 2 ish miles
4/21: 5k (3.1 miles)
4/22: 8 miles
Total: 17.6 miles

Week 9:
4/24: 5 miles
4/28: 10k (59:27; 9:35 pace)
4/29: 2 mile HIIT (7mph for 90 sec; 5.5 mph for 2 min)
Total: 13.2 miles
I missed a run this week because my hamstring was bothering me a lot.

Week 10:
5/1: 5 miles
5/3: 5 miles
5/4: 1 mile
5/6: 8.8 miles
Total: 19.8 miles

Week 11:
5/8: 5 miles
5/9: 1 mile
5/10: 3.8 miles
5/13: 7.4 miles
total: 17.2 miles

Week 12:
5/14: 2 miles
5/15: 4 miles
5/17: 3 miles
5/19: 13.1 miles finished with a time of… 2:20! (not my best, it was tough!)
total: 22.1 miles
