whole life challenge

It’s a little bit on the sad side that I only post about once a month. This needs to change! I miss blogging even if I don’t say very much and it is mostly focused around my meals & workouts. that is what this blog is centered around though. oh and other aspects of health like sleep. which i haven’t been getting a whole lot of and should probably change along with everything else.

this summer flew. i cannot believe august is ending next week. i did have a lot of fun though, i just wish i did more. (i say that every year…) it gets harder and harder when you have to work an actual job.
summer highlights:

  • both warrior dashes
  • random pool party/fireworks
  • ingrid michaelson
  • my birthday celebration(s)
  • chad’s birthday
  • many many nights at the brew

i don’t regret anything except the massive amounts of alcohol & shitty(not bad tasting, just crap) food that i ate.
the sugar & grease led me to gain 10 pounds…in 3 months! whoops.
time to lay the smack down….i just don’t feel right. now i really honestly don’t care (that much) about the way i look..but the way i feel is important. and the fact that half of my clothes don’t fit pisses me off a bit.

if you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you probably notice how i start these “challenges” and then i just stop. i don’t tell you i quit, but i usually end up quitting not long after starting them.
well, surprise surprise, i’m doing another challenge. but this one is different from the rest.

  • it cost money. (usually when i pay for things, i follow through because i HATE wasting money on absolutely anything….yes i am a cheap ass.) i almost didn’t sign up for it because of the price..but i know it will help me.
  • a buttload of people are doing it across the world. most of them are all crossfit gym affiliated. i am doing it through Courtney who blogs at Petite Athleat. Since I am on her “team”, it will be easier to have people hold me accountable. I don’t want to let her or anyone else down.
  • i really need to put down the alcohol. lately my workouts have been crap, i haven’t been sleeping, and i just really need to stop drinking the extra calories.
  • it’s only 8 weeks. 56 days does seem like a lot, but it’s not like i’m going to have to stick to this forever.
  • i really want to see what i’m made of physically & mentally. i feel like i could make some serious strength gains if i really focused on it.
  • i can still have coffee & peanut butter. thank god.

so you’re probably wondering…what the heck is this challenge?

It’s called the Whole Life Challenge. you can read all the details on their website.

Basically it’s a game that you follow and get points for your daily nutrition and workouts. It’s to change the way you look at your life and how to build & maintain the healthy body and mind in every aspect.

For nutrition you cannot have the following things:
– grains & starches, corn & soy, sugar & sweeteners, dairy, alcohol, soda, juice, and artificial or processed foods.

It’s basically paleo when it comes to nutrition except they allow legumes.

I’m a bit nervous about cutting out my greek yogurt, cottage cheese, and items that have sweeteners.

I know I’ll be fine with the workouts because the minimum is 10 minutes daily. I think I can handle that. 🙂

The challenge starts September 15th and runs until November 10th.

I’ll be ready.

    The Whole Life Challenge sounds like a lot of fun! Have you ever tried making your own “yogurt” with tofu? (Chocolate Covered Katie has a great recipe using both banana and tofu!)

      no, but i should! ill have to wait until after the challenge though because tofu isn’t allowed. 😦
