this will make you sweat.

well, it’s been almost a week now since i started the whole30 paleo challenge.
i’m still feeling really really good. so much more energy and focus.
i used to have such a cloudy mind & feel tired/exhausted most of the day, but my mental clarity has been great.
and…..i lost 2 pounds! in a week! plus a .3% body fat decrease.
i haven’t changed my exercise habits..at all. so this is all about the nutrition. i may have to make this paleo thing a lifestyle. i think i would allow cheat days though. i don’t think it’s healthy to deprive yourself, but i also am starting to understand how awful those foods make me feel. (dairy, grains, and sugar.)
i think i’d choose feeling awesome 100% of the time rather than feeling good for 20 minutes because of how “tasty” a meal is.
eat to live. don’t live to eat.

well besides my paleo eating..i’ve also been getting some good workouts in while giving myself rest days. todays workout was brutal.

THIS WILL MAKE YOU SWEAT

warm up: run 1/2 mile
dynamic stretches

Circuit #1: (2x)
Ball jumps – 30 each leg (start in plank position with hands on a medicine ball and jump to the side and back to plank)
Line jumps – 100 (i used a line on the track and jumped back and forth over the line)
Ball slams – 30 (14 lb medicine ball)
8 sets of stairs

Circuit #2: (2x)
Military press – 30 (8lb dumbbells)
Suitcases – 30 (8 lb dumbbell)
Jump squats – 30
Run 3 laps (.25 mile)

Circuit #3:
Spider plank – 30 each leg
Overhead squat with barbell – 30 (25 lb barbell)
Split squats – 30 each leg
Tuck jumps – 30
Up, up, down, downs (in plank position – hands to elbows) – 15

10 minutes of core+stretch
I did:
50 crunches
10 roll ups
50 situps
25 bicycle crunches
dead bug with slow leg lifts 5 each leg
plank hold 30 sec
side plank 30 sec each side

i was dripping by the end of this. such a great work out. it’s actually a repeat bootcamp workout we did in march. i remember hating it. but you feel so accomplished when you finish it. 🙂

i refueld with a “skin saver” smoothie made with…
3/4 frozen mixed berries (blueberries, strawberries, & blackberries)
1/4 avocado
1 cup almond milk
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp agave nectar
2 tsp wheat germ (i’m not sure this is allowed on the “whole30” challenge. should’ve used flaxseed, but i wanted omega 3s)

delicious.

now onto studying the AFAA fitness book so i can get certified next month!!! 😀
